Low Yat Plaza
From Malaysia Encyclopedia
Located at Lot 7, Jalan 1/77, Off Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, LYP is opposite to Berjaya Times Square. Low Yat is also accessible via monorail at Imbi or Bukit Bintang Monorail Station.
Low Yat Plaza stands out by offering a greater range and variety of a single product by having a collective of inter-chained stores. This is in contrast with streamlined arrangements in other electronics malls. Therefore, Low Yat Plaza allows the consumer to have greater buying power and freedom in selecting the products or electronic parts they wish to purchase. Most parts that are sold here are bargainable and many stores also offer their services to assemble the parts a customer purchases.
Each floor within the complex has its own speciality specialising in laptops, mobile phones, etc. There are eateries in the lower ground floor of the complex with ATM machines as well.
In November 2006 the police raided Low Yat Plaza and Imbi Plaza, confiscating more than 27,000 copies of pirated computer software. At this moment, no pirated software can be found at both plazas. [citation needed]
A shrine devoted to Beng Sifu and Lian Che, the patron gods of Ah Bengs and |Ah Lians was erected recently. The Ye-loo Heer and Fengtau Wahlau festivals to honour these deities is now held here annually
