Basically we have the following standard programs (all modules are 12 lessons of 1 1/2 hours each, usually weekly):
1. Basic Level:
- 1.1. Beginners
- 1.2. Elementary
- 1.3. Intermediate
This is to teach a child the rules, and get him starting playing logically.
2. Foundation Level:
- 2.1. Developmental 1
- 2.2. Developmental 2
- 2.3. Developmental 3.
This is to provide the interested student with the tools required to play in competitions (the emphasis is in teaching tactics, improving calculation ability, assessing positions, the theory of the most common endgames, and a grounding in openings.
3. Expert Level:
- We have 9 Modules, each addressing an area necessary for mastery of an aspect of the game.
- This is for the serious, junior state or national level player and would bring a student to 1700+ playing strength by the age of 14 years.
If from start at the ideal of 6 years of age, this program in total would be about 3 to 5 years in length.
We of course also have custom programs and expect to have run many remedial/bridging classes in the initial stages to fill knowledge gaps.
The ASEAN Chess Academy is the only Official FIDE (World Chess Federation) Training Centre in the world today.
